Consumer Protection Report Faults ‘Deceptive Practices’ Of Ticket Sellers On Secondary Market

Deceptive practices by some ticket resellers are one of several areas of concern about how event tickets are sold in Connecticut, according to a report released this week by the state Department of Consumer Protection. (Download the report.)

The report, compiled in response to a request last year from the General Assembly, chastises resellers (sometimes called “scalpers”) for intentionally confusing customers trying to buy tickets on the primary market, and for sometimes offering for sale tickets they don’t actually have. Even so, existing laws should be sufficient to address those concerns, the report said.
